One evening in September 2001, after dozens of hours of long-distance turbulence and dusty all the way, I was admitted to the University of Science and Technology Beijing majoring in journalism, and finally came to Beijing from my hometown Yongkang, Zhejiang.
At that time, the autumn breeze started to rise, the twilight was in all directions, and the busy Beijing, as usual, once again blended into the radiant and prosperous night scene. Stepping out of the bustling Beijing Railway Station, strolling in the solemn Tiananmen Square, standing in front of the Monument to the People’s Heroes, I was excited and truly feeling the ancient and young of this historic city in Beijing. In my heart, there was a kind of unspeakable excitement and excitement. Uplifting.

The outside world is wonderful. When I was in Beijing, my horizons had never been widened: many things that I thought could not happen before happened in my real life; celebrities that I had only seen in the newspapers appeared in my life so naturally. The University of Science and Technology Beijing where I am studying is located in the famous Haidian District of Beijing. It is a national key university with a history of more than 50 years that focuses on engineering and has coordinated development of engineering, science, management, literature, economics, and law. , Is one of the first colleges and universities to formally establish a graduate school in the country. When I walked into the gate of Beijing University of Science and Technology with an abstract architectural style and stared at the school name "Beijing University of Science and Technology" inscribed by the famous contemporary calligrapher Su Shi and the school motto of "Scientific style of study, advocating practice" inscribed by the famous scholar Ouyang Zhongshi, I walked On the dreamlike ginkgo trail to the south of the library, I told myself in my heart: I will have a bounty after studying hard. Beijing’s Haidian District is also a gathering place for colleges and universities. In addition to Beijing University of Science and Technology, there are also famous Peking University, Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China, etc., making the campus of Haidian District vibrant, young and beautiful, and a strong cultural learning atmosphere.
At Beijing University of Science and Technology, I live in a student dormitory like other classmates. Each dormitory is about 20 square meters, but there are 12 people on the upper bunk. Everyone comes from the north and the south, each with their own ideals and longings, but they are full of pride and joy.
University life is simple, our ideals are simple, and the friendship and exchanges between our classmates are also deep and simple. We went to various lecture classrooms to listen to classes, sweating on the basketball court together; eating barbecue together, going to karaoke together... It was late at night, and we were still chatting about the scenery of our hometowns on the overlapping crowded beds, and the candlelight after the lights were turned off. Looking forward to the future after graduation...
After the brief excitement about the new environment passed, my university life surrounded me in a tense and rich way. Amidst the constant “three-point-one-line” (classroom-bedroom-library) busy schedule, I was like Seedlings are madly absorbing the nutrients that they grow up. They eagerly learn journalism expertise, listen to professors, discuss with classmates, and continue to digest new knowledge with their books in the middle of the night.
I have been more inclined to literary writing since I was a child. When I was in the third year of junior high school (15 years old), I published my debut in the national newspaper "Family Times". After enrolling in the journalism major of Beijing University of Science and Technology, since it was my favorite major, I felt like a fish in water and started to give it a go.
The Haidian District, where the school is located, is also a place where Beijing’s scenic spots are concentrated. However, when other classmates spend their spare time, weekends or holidays, rafting in the Summer Palace, remembering the past in the Old Summer Palace, or admiring the red leaves in Fragrant Mountain, I still hold books in my dormitory and read with pens. I am well aware of those famous sayings that can withstand the test of time, such as "The sharp edge of a sword comes from sharpening, and the fragrance of plum blossom comes from the bitter cold" (Jing Shixian Wen), "100% success is equal to 99.9% sweat plus 100%. Therefore, when I am a friend of knowledge, loneliness drifts away in my books, and loneliness slips away quietly under my pen. I think: I live in this completely unfamiliar city. To integrate into the city of Beijing and to make a difference here, I must put forth corresponding efforts. Here, for each of my goals, what I think in my heart is not "try my best", but a real "go all out"!
In addition to a lot of uninterrupted reading, I also constantly contributed articles to the Beijing University of Science and Technology campus newspaper "Sunshine Times", and also constantly published articles on it. I used passionate writing to report on our hot campus life. , Sometimes expressing his melancholy feelings, conveying to it the pursuit and ideals of a small student. Accompanied all the way, this newspaper has become a piece of paradise, a sustenance, and a good teacher and helpful friend in my free time during my university.
Soon, due to my diligence in contributing articles to the school newspaper "Sunshine Times" and a lot of publications, as well as the unique ideas of the newspaper's editing and running, I soon joined the "Sunshine Times" editorial department and became a big family. A reporter for the campus newspaper.
The diversified side of Beijing, Beijing's bizarre city, Vientiane, began to truly integrate into my life.
